Popping this onto my Jeep Cherokee was a breeze. The cable from my motorhome fit like a dream, and hooking up the wires to the connector was no sweat. It’s a seriously sturdy piece of kit – really well-made.
This is a pretty solid socket. It was a breeze to set up with top-notch screw contacts on the back. The best part? It latches onto the cable really well.
Good product and price.
This product’s really good – I’d totally buy it again.
Man, this Hopkins product is just awful…
– It only connects every now and then.
– The pins snap under the slightest bit of force. Can’t tell for sure what they’re made out of but it seems like just plastic with a metallic covering.
– Talk about a fail, the screws for wire connections are ridiculous. They’re way too small and their heads get stripped the moment you put a screwdriver to them. Trying to hold the wire just by pressing it? That’s just bad design.
– Honestly, this product is cheap, thoughtless, and it breaks far too easily.
Now on the other hand, the Pollack 7-pin connector, now that’s a solid product. (The 12-706 and 12-707 ones, I mean)
– It’s got all copper fittings, sturdy as heck.
– Fits like a dream when you plug it into the socket, no messing around.
– The connection points for the wires actually work well with ring connectors crimped onto wire ends.
– No exaggeration, this thing’s industrial strength.
– And even if you only need 6 connectors, you might as well snag this 7-pin one and just leave one unused. Trust me, it’s worth it.
