Official Pennsylvania State Government Documentation About Trailer Inspections
Kindly be aware that, when looking at state documentation it can be confusing because, all the trailers we offer for sale are categorized as utility trailers. The term “utility trailers” encompasses a wide range of trailers, including dump trailers, equipment trailers, gooseneck trailers, tilt trailers, and more.
What are the inspection criteria for recreational, semi- and utility trailers?
Safety inspections for recreational, semi- and utility trailers require that the following items be checked:
suspension components
braking systems
tires and wheels
lighting and electrical systems
glazing
the body, and the chassis
Ready for Inspection?
Before you arrive for your trailer inspection, ensure you bring your original and up-to-date registration or ownership card. Additionally, your trailer must have a clearly legible VIN plate or sticker. Please note that if either of these items is missing upon your arrival, we will be unable to perform the inspection.

We brought our B wise dump trailer to Jud for things that needed fix and he did an awesome job. Also we had a local Chevy dealer install a brake controller on our 2023 Tahoe, after the 3rd controller, we had Jud look at it. Jud found that the Chevy dealership installed them wrong and it was burning the brake controller module up. Jud took the time to replace it and install a new one for us, he is very professional and explained everything to us. 10 out of 10, we will be back to Brechbill for anything trailer related. Jud definitely earned our trust..

We purchased an enclosed trailer in a matter of three hours. Two of those hours were the drive to the shop. We were approved in 5 mins with Ryan’s help and Steven was amazing with helping us hook up and explain everything in detail. Highly recommend. Friendly and knowledgeable staff with rapid results! You guys rock!!!

Plan Ahead for Your Trailer Inspection within the Three-Month Window
In Pennsylvania, it’s important to remember that your trailer needs to pass an inspection before the registration sticker expires. You have the advantage of getting this inspection done up to three months in advance. We recommend scheduling your inspection early, as this allows enough time for any necessary repairs or part orders. This proactive approach not only keeps you compliant with state laws but also ensures your trailer remains roadworthy without any last-minute rush.
